LA police seize $300,000-worth of fake make-up

Police in Los Angeles seized $300,000 in fake cosmetics last week, including counterfeit MAC and Kylie lip care products.

LAPD Captain Lillian Carranza tweeted photos of the haul, including the one alongside, noting that “previous test of counterfeit makeup revealed animal faeces and chemicals that can be hazardous to your health.”

The cosmetics were intercepted at a retail outlet in downtown LA by the Intellectual Property Crimes Unit of LAPD’s Commercial Crimes Division. Carranza advises consumers to ensure they purchase cosmetics from authorised outlets.
