$2.3m-worth of fake luxury goods seized in Kentucky

Two shipments seized by customs officers in Louisville, Kentucky, were found to include dozens of counterfeit goods infringing trademarks held by Louis Vuitton, Oakley, Cartier and others.

The first shipment was arriving from Dubai and was manifested as ‘men’s clock’. When Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inspected the parcel they found four Cartier bracelets, two Audemars Piguet watches, one Hublot watch, and one Richard Mille watch.

The items were inspected by an import specialist who determined the items were counterfeit and had a retail price value of more than $1.3m.

The second shipment arrived from Hong Kong and was manifested as ‘pedometer material’. It contained 65 Oakley sunglasses and 180 Louis Vuitton watches that were confirmed as counterfeit and valued at more than $1m.

The shipments were intercepted en route to residents in Arlington, Texas and Miami, Florida respectively, according to CBP.
