Sproxil turns to IBM for software upgrades

Sproxil will make use of IBM's ILOG Elixir software in the next incarnation of its Mobile Product Authentication system, which uses text-messaging to verify products carrying a unique code.

A new client dashboard powered by the IBM software will be launched in the second quarter of this year, yielding improvements in the way brand owners can "view and analyse" information generated via MPA.

Using the new system pharma companies can more easily identify patterns in counterfeiting and deploy their resources accordingly, said the firm in a statement.

"Many of our clients are in locations where high-speed Internet connectivity is unreliable or nonexistent," commented Sproxil chief executive Dr. Ashifi Gogo.

"Through our work with IBM, we can enable our clients to render charts with high-speed, even in low-bandwidth situations," he added, noting that the deal also grants access to IBM's cloud service which will offer clients "secure and reliable application availability no matter where they are located."
