SICPA today announced the commercial launch of its SICPASTAR Hot Stamp secure colour-shift solution, which provides enhanced security for plastic cards and value documents, including credit cards, birth certificates, vital records and other high-value documents.
SICPASTAR Hot Stamp provides more intuitive, unambiguous authentication by creating an instantly recognizable colour shift integrated into most any design when viewed at different angles.
The availability of SICPA’s proprietary SICPASTAR colour-shifting ink as a hot-stamp feature, provides a cost-effective alternative to existing hot-stamped solutions and increases efficiency for both printers and issuers of documents and cards. This innovation allows any printer with hot stamp capabilities to seamlessly incorporate proven colour-shift design and security into their production process. The use of inexpensive proprietary dies also eliminates origination fees, significantly reduces implementation lead time, and allows customers greater flexibility to individualize order size based on production needs when compared to other types of hot-stamped security features.
“Citizens and industry stakeholders place enormous trust in the security and authenticity of financial cards, identity documents, and other vital records,” said Karen Gardner, Chief Marketing Officer of SICPA North America.
“As counterfeiters and criminals become more sophisticated, we know how essential it is to continuously innovate in order to provide reliable, cost-effective security solutions. SICPASTAR Hot Stamp’s proprietary, counterfeit-resistant colour shift and application allows for easy, widespread implementation and helps ensure that all parties can quickly and confidently differentiate authentic documents from forgeries.”
The SICPASTAR Hot Stamp secure colour-shift solution draws on SICPA’s decades of experience providing innovative, secure, counterfeit-resistant authentication and traceability solutions to governments, businesses, and consumers worldwide.
Founded in 1927, SICPA is a trusted global provider of security inks as well as secured identification, traceability and authentication solutions. With high-technology security inks at the core of its expertise, the company protects the majority of the world’s banknotes, security documents and value documents from the threats of counterfeiting and fraud.
Cut out counterfeit attempts? Reid Fruits and Laava show it’s possible
Over three years, Reid Fruits drastically reduced the number of counterfeit attempts on their premium Tasmanian cherries, sold in Asian export markets where the brand was in high demand and had a strong reputation that was at risk from inferior products sold under fake Reid Fruits branding.
In the 2019-20 season, in a bid to fight the fakes, Reid Fruits introduced Laava Smart Fingerprints® on its cherry boxes bound for 20 export markets. The result: only 10 counterfeit attempts, all of which were automatically stopped by the Laava platform.
