Seidenader launches all-round vision system for 2D codes

Seidenader SV360Germany's Seidenader Vision has introduced a new visual inspection system that can locate, read and verify serialised 2D codes on cylindrical containers - from every angle.

The SV360 has been designed to meet the challenge of scanning all the surface of a medicine bottle, regardless of its orientation, and uses six separate cameras in the inspection module to create a complete image that is 'stitched' together by the system's vision processor.

"Many of today’s pharmaceutical products are primary packaged in round, opaque plastic bottles," said the company in a statement.

"The requirement to verify a serialised code on the bottle or to check the presence of labels, the positioning of labels/logos or the presence of tamper evidence tags, makes it necessary to scan the entire body of the bottle after the labeling process," it adds.

Seidenader says it designed the system to help companies meet pending global regulations and corporate initiatives to secure the pharmaceutical supply chain and protect consumers from counterfeit medicines, which in many cases rely on the application of serialised 2D codes.

The SV360 can be located anywhere on the conveyor - typically at the infeed of the bundler or case packer - and can read bottles at a rate of 400 per minute.

"The SV360 is the answer to addressing aggregation handling for e-pedigree requirements, when integrated with Seidenader’s track and trace concept on the packaging line," according the firm.

Seidenader sells a range of elements for coding and traceability applications, including database management, coding systems, code reading technology, and material handling systems.
