Point-of-sale system integrated into eTACT demo

EDQMThe European traceability pilot project eTACT has integrated a point-of-sale system into its demo setup to gather feedback from pharmacists.

Pharmacists had an opportunity to view the new setup during a workshop held by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM). By involving pharmacists early in development, EDQM hopes to build a tool that balances their needs with traceability concerns.

Point-of-dispensing verification system experts from the European Stakeholder Model (ESM), a group of local trade associations, also attended the workshop. Last month the ESM advanced its European Medicines Verification System by signing a contract with IT service provider Solidsoft.

EDQM has now met with more than 200 industry representatives from across the supply chain to discuss the traceability project. More workshops are planned as the eTACT project advances towards the creation of a pan-European system for tracing secondary packaging.
