PharmaSecure joins Fight the Fakes campaign

PharmaSecure has joined the Fight the Fakes campaign - set up in 2013 to raise awareness of counterfeit medicines - as a partner.

Serialization specialist PharmaSecure said it will work with Fight the Fakes on a number of fronts, including "collecting and sharing stories through its on-the ground presence in emerging countries where fake medicines are a significant threat."

The company pledged to provide information about the real harm fake medicines have on individuals, resources to raise the profile of the problem and outline opportunities for action at local level.

The Fight the Fakes campaign brings together healthcare organisations, patient groups, pharmaceutical manufacturers and distributors and companies developing anti-counterfeiting technologies in order to "shine light on the negative impact that fake medicines have on people around the globe."

"Fake medicines are a dangerous and deadly industry, particularly in emerging markets, that put patients and the general public at risk," Nakul Pasricha, CEO of PharmaSecure.

"Increasing awareness and empowering consumers to identify fake medicines is integral to combating this threat to public health."
