Second UK store discovered with counterfeit wine

A supermarket in Hastings, UK, is facing the loss of its alcohol license after Trading Standards found counterfeit bottles of Blossom Hill White Zinfandel Wine in its stockroom.

Several fake bottles were discovered at the Four Seasons Supermarket in Bohemia Road as art of a broader investigation by Trading Standards into suspected ccounterfeit wine being distributed in the Hastings and St Leonards areas, according to an article in the Hastings & St Leonards Observer.

The fake bottles were found to have a lower alcohol content than expected, and according to a shop worker had been removed from sale because a customer said they tasted funny.

The case comes shortly after a supermarket in Sutton Coldfield had its license revoked, once again after Trading Standards discovered fake wine at the premises. The KVK Supermarket/Nisa Local store was found to have 41 counterfeit Yellow Tail wine in its stocks.
