Fake drugs seized in Taiwan clinics

Criminal charges have been brought against two Taiwan nationals for violation of the Pharmaceutical Affair Law, according to the Taipei-headquartered International Research-based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (IRPMA).

Following an eight-month investigation, police seized 250,000 tablets for analysis from several weight-control clinics and chain stores. The suspected counterfeit drugs were Abbott Laboratories' Reductil (sibutramine) and Pfizer's Viagra (sildenafil).
