Nikon warns of counterfeit camera batteries

Nikon has confirmed that counterfeit camera batteries have been sold by authorised retailers to some of camera owners in the US.

News of the counterfeit EN-EL15b lithium ion batteries – used in Nikon’s popular Z6 and Z7 cameras and costing around $75 each in the US – emerged after retailer B&H sent out an email to customers who had recently purchased them that they may have received “subpar” products.

Nikon confirmed the batteries were counterfeit in a statement that read: “These batteries are not genuine and were not manufactured or distributed by Nikon USA. Concerned users can find a guide for determining if the battery they have purchased is a genuine Nikon battery at this link.”
