Estee Lauder adds Bobbi Brown to Target counterfeit claims

Target cosmetics imageEstée Lauder wants to expand its counterfeit cosmetic case against Target Australia to cover Bobbi Brown products.

Allegations that Target stores in Australia sold fake Bobbi Brown cosmetics come one month after Estée Lauder began suing the retailer for allegedly stocking counterfeit M.A.C products.

Target pulled M.A.C cosmetics from its shelves but is disputing the allegations. Both product lines were bought from suppliers that Target claims tested the cosmetics ahead of shipping.

In a court case brought by Estée Lauder, Target defended itself by saying a “far more detailed analysis” is needed to establish if the cosmetics are fake, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The case is now postponed until November 9. By then Estée Lauder may have advanced its plans to begin a separate case against two Australian companies that supplied the disputed cosmetics to Target. Estée Lauder plans to run both cases concurrently.
