Finland busts dark net web marketplace Sipulimarket

Finnish Customs have shut down the Sipulimarket dark web marketplace and seized all its content, reports Europol.

Dark web marketplaces are websites that facilitate trade in illicit goods, often including narcotics, weapons, fake IDs and stolen credit cards, mainly using bitcoin transactions. D

Drugs and other illegal commodities were sold in large quantities on Sipulimarket which had been operating on the Tor (The Onion Router) network since 2019, according to Europol.

It was the only remaining Finnish language dark web marketplace on Tor after the Finnish Customs shut down Silkkitie in spring 2019.  The operation was conducted in cooperation with Polish police, Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) and Eurojust, the EU agency for criminal justice cooperation.
