A round-up of appointments in the supply chain security sector, including new faces at GLOBALGAP, New ProImage, LaserLock Technologies, Microscan and Optel Vision.



Miodrag MiticMiodrag Mitic has been elected vice-chairman of the Chain of Custody Committee at non-governmental organisation GLOBALGAP, which sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe. The committee is currently working on a revision to its chain of custody standards to ensure products are segregated, traceable and identifiable in the entire food supply chain from producers to retailers. Mitic is managing partner of the European Traceability Institute (ETI) private consultancy firm.



Max AstorPrint and publishing technology specialist New ProImage - a subsidiary of Agfa-Gevaert Corp - has appointed Max Astor as sales director for its recently-formed brand protection and anti-counterfeiting division. He reports to Rick Shafranek, vice president of sales and marketing of ProImage's US division. Astor has 30 years printing industry experience and in past positions has been responsible for software security, holography and secure serialisation technologies.



Giles KyserAuthentication technology specialist LaserLock Technologies has appointed Giles Kyser - formerly chief executive of defense supplier Selex Galileo - as its chief operating officer. The announcement comes as LaserLock has been making sweeping changes across its executive team and board, with 2013 seeing a series of new directors as well as the appointments of Thomas Bezas and senior vice president for business development and Paul Donfried as chief technology officer. The company's chief executive - Neil Alpert - said: "it was imperative for the Company to round out our executive management team to handle the rapid growth we anticipate in the coming months."



Michael HarkinNetherlands-based barcoding and vision systems company Microscan has named Michael Harkin as regional sales manager for the UK & Ireland. Harkin will be based in Ireland and will be responsible for sales and business development activities in the region, working closely together with Microscan’s reseller and integrator network. "UK and Ireland are very important markets for us, and some of our largest partners are based there. We also see interesting developments in machine vision in this region,” said Juan Pablo Biermayr, Microscan's sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).



Michael BullenOptel Vision has added to its serialisation team in Europe with the appointment of Michael Bullen as a track & trace solution manager. He brings 11 years of expertise in vision, track and trace, engineering, product management and project management in the pharmaceutical industry to the new role. He will also serve as the liaison with various Optel Vision partners, said the firm in a statement.
