Las Vegas man jailed for fake electronics trafficking

A Las Vegas business owner has been given a six-month prison sentence for trafficking around $1.5m-worth of fake electronic goods from China.

Saad Ahmed (32) has also been ordered to pay nearly $270,000 in restitution to three trademark holders – including Apple and Samsung – and to surrender almost 4,500 electronics and accessories seized at his PhonePartsUSA business in a raid last year.

Ahmed pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy to traffic in counterfeit goods, including fake cellphone parts. The maximum sentence he faced could have been five years.
