Fake Nintendo games consoles seized in US

Customs officers in San Juan have intercepted 100 counterfeit Nintendo Mini Gaming consoles inside a parcel coming from Hong Kong.

The shipment – seized at the Rafael Hernandez International Airport Cargo facility – would be worth around $326,000 at retail prices had the devices been genuine, according to a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) statement.

The seized consoles do not resemble the Nintendo Classic Mini currently on sale from the Japanese electronics company – which is a small version of its SNES system – but rather is a copycat version of the firm’s iconic Game Boy device that claims to come pre-loaded with 400 games including Super Mario, Contra, and Tetris.

Game Boy lookalikes not sold by Nintendo are widely sold on online retail sites, with several listed on Amazon’s US and UK sites at the time of writing.
