Kiwi shoe polish counterfeiter fined in China

A man who made and sold counterfeit Kiwi shoe polish products has been ordered to pay compensation of 3 million yuan (around $450,000) to US manufacturer SC Johnson & Son.

The man had previously been sentenced by the Ningdu County People’s Court in Jiangxi Province to three years in jail, with a four-year reprieve, and fined 50,000 yuan for counterfeiting a registered trademark in December 2017, reports Shine.cn.

The company accused Wang of selling around 10m yuan-worth of counterfeit product each year, although he denied this and said the figure was nearer 1.1m yuan. It had sought 300m yuan in compensation.
